Wichita girlfriend shoots her boyfriend during home ‘disturbance,’ police say
A Wichita woman was arrested early Friday morning after allegedly shooting her boyfriend during a domestic “disturbance,” police said.
Wichita police were called at around 12:15 a.m. to a shooting at a home in the 1400 block of North Battin, Officer Charley Davidson said in a news release. Emergency crews found a 45-year-old man with a gunshot wound to his shoulder, and he was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Investigators determined that the man and his girlfriend got into a “disturbance,” during which the woman “retrieved a handgun and fired it, striking her boyfriend,” Davidson said.
Other people between the ages of 12 and 18 were home at the time of the shooting, police said. None of them were injured.
Sharon Wells, 45, of Wichita, was arrested on suspicion of aggravated battery in connection to the shooting.
