Wichita man sentenced to life in prison for murder in 2016 shooting, prosecutors say
A Sedgwick County District Court judge sentenced a Wichita man to life in prison after he was convicted of murder in a 2016 shooting.
Casimiro Nunez, 62, was sentenced to life in prison with no possibility for parole for 50 years — a Hard 50 sentence — District Attorney Marc Bennett said Wednesday in a news release. Last month, Nunez was found guilty of first-degree murder and possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute.
The murder conviction is connected to the Oct. 29, 2016, shooting death of Antonio Guzman in a Planeview neighborhood, Bennett said. Guzman was shot three times in a house in the 3100 block of South Yale.
Wichita police previously said Guzman was a guest at the house, which was the home of Nunez.
