The man shot and killed during a disturbance in the Planeview neighborhood has been identified as Antonio Guzman, 46.
Wichita police Lt. Jason Stephens said a 59-year-old man was arrested and jailed on suspicion of first-degree murder in connection with Saturday’s slaying. He lives in the house at 3148 S. Yale, near 31st South and Hillside, where the shooting happened at around 2:30 a.m.
Guzman was a guest, Stephens said.
“He was shot multiple times during a disturbance,” he said.
Police officers also found two other people at the house when they arrived to investigate. They were not harmed, Stephens said.
Stephens said police were still looking for witnesses to interview and could say little about the investigation. He would not disclose the motive for the shooting.
“I can’t really go into any further detail about any evidence or any other persons at the scene due to the fact that it is still an ongoing investigation,” Stephens said.
The man arrested in connection with Guzman’s killing is Casimiro Nunez, according to Wichita police documents. He is being held in lieu of $150,000 bond, online Sedgwick County Jail records show.
Guzman’s is the city’s 23rd homicide of the year, Stephens said.
