Man with meth was following too closely on his way to Wichita, state trooper said
A man who admitting to driving seven pounds of methamphetamine to Kansas has been sentenced to nine years in prison, federal prosecutors said.
Hector Manuel Aguirre, 21, of Edwards, Colorado, was sentenced Monday to 108 months in prison after he pleaded guilty to possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine, U.S. Attorney Stephen McAllister said in a release.
Aguirre was pulled over in February 2018 in Ellis County by a Kansas Highway Patrol trooper for following too closely, the plea agreement states. Aguirre was given a warning, and he gave the trooper consent to search the vehicle.
The trooper found four bags of a white crystal substance determined to be meth. Aguirre admitted in the plea deal that he was transporting over seven pounds of meth from California to Wichita.
