Wichita police have no suspects in two deadly overnight shootings in Wichita, police said.

The first shooting was reported at 8:11 p.m. Friday in the 2200 block of North Grove, a dispatch supervisor said. Emergency crews found one person who was pronounced dead at the scene.

Four hours after the shooting was reported — at 12:11 a.m. Saturday — Wichita police Sgt. Dan Harty said firefighters had been called to the area for a reported medical emergency. They found a 51-year-old Wichita man who was dead.

The man had been shot in the head, police said in a news release Saturday.

“The investigation revealed the victim was involved in a physical disturbance with an unknown suspect when the suspect shot the victim, killing him,” Officer Charley Davidson said in the release.

No arrests have been made and police have not identified the man who was shot, but said he is not from the area and likely knows people in the area.

The second shooting was reported at around 3 a.m. Saturday in the 2100 block of South Palisade, where a 27-year-old man was shot in the neck. He died after being taken to the hospital, police said.

The shooter was outside and shot into a house, hitting the 27-year-old, police said. The shooter then fled the scene.

Davidson said neither shooting is believed to be random.

Both cases are ongoing investigations, and no arrests have been made at this time,” Davidson said in the release.

Police are asking anyone with any additional information on these cases to call Crime Stoppers at 316-267-2111 or WPD detectives at 316-268-4407.
