Dispatch reported that a man was found dead after a reported shooting in the 2200 block of North Grove on Friday night. Police confirmed that a man was dead, but not that there was a shooting. The Wichita Eagle.

One person is dead after a north Wichita shooting, officials said, but police have made no arrests and have no suspects.

The shooting was reported at 8:11 p.m. Friday in the 2200 block of North Grove, a dispatch supervisor said. Emergency crews found one person who was pronounced dead at the scene.

Four hours after the shooting was reported — at 12:11 a.m. Saturday — Wichita police Sgt. Dan Harty said firefighters had been called to the area for a reported medical emergency. They found a 51-year-old Wichita man who was dead.

He was not identified, pending family notification. The man did not live in the area, but police think he knew people in the area.

Police would not confirm whether the man was shot, but Harty said foul play is suspected in his death based on “evidence at the scene.”

No arrests have been made, and police said they have no suspects or persons of interest.

“It’s so early we haven’t developed anything like that,” Harty said.

Very few people have come forward and talked with police about the incident, he said.

“We have very little to go on right now,” he said. “I feel very comfortable that people in the area know something and we would encourage them to call us.”

Police ask anyone with information on the case to call Crime Stoppers at 316-267-2111.
