Detention deputy jailed on suspicion of DUI
The Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office early Wednesday arrested one of its jail deputies on suspicion of driving under the influence.
The agency, in an e-mailed news release, said a patrol sergeant stopped a white 2013 Toyota for a traffic violation near I-235 and Seneca at around 2:40 a.m. and its driver appeared to be impaired. The driver, who has worked as a detention deputy for eight months, was booked into the Sedgwick County Jail.
“This DUI case will be presented to the District Attorney’s Office for charges,” the Sheriff’s Office said in the e-mail. It did not release the deputy’s name.
The jail deputy is the second arrested for allegedly driving under the influence in recent weeks.
