A Sedgwick County detention deputy was arrested and booked into jail Thursday morning on suspicion of driving under the influence, the Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office said in an e-mailed news release.
A patrol deputy stopped a black 2016 GMC Sierra shortly before 3 a.m. near Central and Rock Road for a traffic violation and found the detention deputy to be its driver, according to the release. The detention deputy, whom the sheriff’s office did not name, was booked into Sedgwick County Jail for the alleged offense.
The detention deputy has worked for the sheriff’s office for one year, the release said. The case will be presented to the Sedgwick County District Attorney’s Office for possible criminal charges.
“The Sheriff’s Office will always investigate any allegation against an employee with the due diligence that the public entrusts in us,” the sheriff’s office said in the release. It did not comment further on the allegations or the deputy accused.
