Man gets prison for 2015 fatal shooting
A man has been ordered to serve 29 years in prison for his role in a fatal shooting on the city’s south side in 2015.
Authorities have said Alexzander Rye, 24, and another man, Macy Foard, went to a home in the 2600 block of East Wilma on Dec. 8, 2015, intending to rob the people who lived there, and shot 42-year-old Dejuan Harris after he answered a knock at the door. Harris’ body was found the next day after someone called 911.
Rye – who was given the 348-month sentence by District Judge Christopher Magana – pleaded guilty to amended charges of voluntary manslaughter and aggravated burglary on April 14. Originally, he faced counts of first-degree murder, criminal possession of a firearm and meth possession.
Foard, 37, is scheduled for sentencing on July 13, according to court records. He pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter and burglary in May.
