The Wichita Police Department on Wednesday released surveillance photos showing a suspect in two Memorial Day weekend hotel robberies that are thought to be connected.

The man is sought in robberies early Saturday morning at the Extended Stay America Hotel, in the 9400 block of East Corporate Hills Drive, and Monday morning at the Days Inn Hotel, in the 7300 block of East Kellogg. He is described as a slender, light-skinned black man in his 20s and had a handgun during the Days Inn robbery, the Police Department said in a Facebook post.

“It is believed the two robberies were committed by the same suspect,” the post said.

In the Extended Stay America robbery, the man walked in and demanded money from a 69-year-old woman, according to Wichita police records.

The man took cash from a register and a purse during the Days Inn robbery, Officer Paul Cruz has said.

Anyone with information about the crimes or the man sought is asked to leave an anonymous tip with Wichita-Sedgwick County Crime Stoppers at 316-267-2111, at www.wichitasedgwickcountycrimestoppers.com or using the P3 Tips mobile application.
