No arrests in county homicide; more information expected Wednesday
Sedgwick County sheriff’s investigators have not arrested anyone in a homicide involving a body found on North 69th Street and are still awaiting autopsy results, an official said Tuesday.
Sheriff’s officials expect to release information about the case during the weekly briefing for media Wednesday morning, sheriff’s Capt. David Mattingly said.
On Monday, the Sheriff’s Office asked for the public’s help in solving the case, involving a man’s body found lying partly in the road Sunday evening near 69th and Hillside. Authorities want to know whether anyone saw anything suspicious between 3 and 7 p.m. Sunday on 69th between Oliver and Hillside. The vehicle involved may be a dark-colored, four-door sedan similar to a Chevrolet Impala, sheriff’s Capt. Greg Pollock said.
Investigators also want to hear from anyone who was in that same stretch of 69th between 5 and 6 p.m. Sunday; Pollock asked that they call the sheriff’s investigations unit at 316-660-5300, which is manned from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. The sheriff’s records section is open 24 hours and can be called at 316-660-3888. Tipsters can call Crime Stoppers, 316-267-2111.
At about 6:08 p.m. Sunday, deputies were dispatched to 4000 E. 69th St. North to a report of a body being found. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.
