Sedgwick County sheriff’s investigators are asking for the public’s help in solving a homicide case involving a man’s body found lying partly in the road Sunday evening near 69th and Hillside.

In particular, authorities want to know whether someone saw anything suspicious from 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday on 69th between Oliver and Hillside, said sheriff’s Capt. Greg Pollock. The vehicle involved may be a dark-colored four-door sedan similar to a Chevrolet Impala, Pollock said.

Monday afternoon, Pollock added that investigators also want to hear from anyone who was in that same stretch of 69th between 5 and 6 p.m. Sunday; he asked that they call the sheriff’s investigations unit at 316-660-5300, which is manned from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. The sheriff’s records section is open 24 hours and can be called at 316-660-3888 Tipsters can call Crime Stoppers, 316-267-2111.

Earlier Monday, Pollock gave this account of the case: At about 6:08 p.m. Sunday, deputies were dispatched to 4000 E. 69th St. North to a report of a body being found. Deputies and medical workers found a man’s body lying partly in the road. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators have processed the scene but aren’t releasing details about the victim, Pollock said. Investigators are awaiting autopsy findings on the cause of death.
