Squirrel knocks out electricity to thousands in northwest Wichita
Blame it on a squirrel.
Nearly 2,000 Westar Energy customers in northwest Wichita found themselves without electricity for nearly an hour Tuesday morning thanks to a scurrying squirrel, Westar spokeswoman Gina Penzig said. The outage occurred at about 7:30 a.m. and was restored about 40 minutes later.
The outages were confined to an area west of 13th and Maize Road.
