Squirrel causes power outage in west Wichita
Power was knocked out in west Wichita this morning when a squirrel got into a transformer at a substation, Gina Penzig of Westar Energy said.
Power was back up for 5,000 of the 7,000 customers affected within 3 minutes, and the rest of those affected were expected to have power restored within 30 minutes of the 10:15 a.m. outage, Penzig said.
The area affected included sections from 13th Street south to Harry and between Tyler and Ridge.
