A stabbing incident at a house in west Wichita on Monday morning is not a random act, a police official said Tuesday.

A 38-year-old man reported being stabbed several times after he answered a knock on the front door of his house shortly before 10:30 a.m. Monday in the 11900 block of West 20th Street, Lt. James Espinoza said.

The victim was stabbed in his chest and stomach and underwent surgery Monday night, Espinoza said. Investigators are looking for two men the victim said were at the door when he opened it.

“The victim is not being cooperative” with investigators, Espinoza said.

No money or property was taken in the attack, Espinoza said.

“We do not believe it to be a random act,” he said. “The investigation is looking like there’s more to the story and it’s going to take a little bit of time to figure it out.”

Neither the victim nor anyone else who lives at the house south of 21st Street near 119th Street West is a documented gang member, Espinoza said.
