A 48-year-old Winfield man is dead after a two-vehicle crash over the weekend in Cowley County.

The Cowley County Sheriff’s Office said James Aikins was driving a 2010 Volkswagen Jetta when he was struck in the intersection of U.S. Highway 77 and 202nd Road by a Chevrolet Trax shortly after 11:30 p.m. Saturday. He was turning from the west side of the highway to head north at the time, the Sheriff’s Office said. The Trax was traveling south.

Aikins died at the scene. The other driver, a 36-year-old Arkansas City woman, was taken to Wesley Medical Center in Wichita for treatment, the Sheriff’s Office said.
