Police have identified a man whose body was found floating in a pond in northeast Wichita as 37-year-old William Alberts.

Alberts, of Wichita, was found dead in a small pond behind Trinity Academy, 1870 N. Founders Circle, around 1:45 p.m. Saturday. The area is near Redbud Trail, where people walk and bike.

The person who called 911 reported a body submersed in the water, according to a previous Eagle report.

Alberts’ cause of death has not been released. Police did not give any information about what led him to being in the water.

“There are no new updates at this time,” Wichita police spokesman Officer Kris Gupilan said by email Tuesday.
