Unidentified person found dead in a pond in northeast Wichita

One person was found dead on Saturday afternoon after a call about a person being submersed in water in northeast Wichita.

Around 1:45 p.m., a 911 caller reported finding a dead person floating in a small pond behind Trinity Academy at 1870 N. Founders Circle, Wichita Police Department Senior Public Information Officer Andrew Ford said. There are a few different ponds in that area.

The area is near Redbud Trail, where people walk and bike.

Members of the Wichita Fire Department responded to the call. The person was released to the coroner, Ford said, and has not been identified.
