Street closed amid large police and SWAT presence near Hotel Old Town

The Wichita Police Department is asking the public to avoid the 100 block of N. Mosley in Old Town after an incident Monday garnered a large police presence and warranted a SWAT team response.

“If you normally travel through this area, please use an alternate route and avoid the area if possible,” a post on the department’s Facebook page read.

As of 3:30 p.m., a SWAT team arrived, joining the roughly dozen police cars as well as a Sedgwick County EMS vehicle. Police have been flying drones in the Old Town area, and police cars are parked in front of the Hotel Old Town.

Mosley is closed between 1st and 2nd streets and the police department is asking the public to take a different route and avoid the area if possible.

The road will remain closed for an undetermined amount of time, the department’s Facebook post said.

The department hasn’t given more details on the incident.
