A 40-year-old Wichita woman who was attacked while trying to break up a fight between her two pit bulls Saturday died from her injuries Sunday morning, police said.

She was identified as Moeshae Thomas, Wichita police spokesperson Aaron Moses said in an email.

Officers responded at 4:08 p.m. to a home in the 2800 block of West Murdock after someone called 911 to report an individual being attacked by their dog, a pit bull.

Thomas lived in the west Wichita home where the dog attack occurred.

“At this time, based on the investigation, we believe there were two pit bulls inside the home, both family dogs, that were fighting,” Moses said. “The victim attempted to break up the dogs when she was attacked.”

Both dogs were taken to the Wichita Animal Shelter.
