Need to get rid of a live Christmas tree? Here’s where to go in Wichita, Sedgwick County
If you brought that lovely evergreen scent and the resulting trail of pine needles into your house this Christmas, now you’ll need to figure out how and where to get rid of your live tree.
In the Wichita area, Sedgwick County and other area cities offer free recycling of real Christmas trees. Trees that are dropped off are turned into mulch, which is also free to pick up at these sites.
You can drop off your tree until Thursday, Jan. 23. You don’t have to be a Sedgwick County resident, and there are no specific hours for drop-off, unless the site is in a park that closes at night.
Make sure you remove any lights, tinsel or ornaments from the tree before leaving it in the area of the parking lot marked for tree drop-off.
The sites are only for real Christmas trees. If you need to get rid of an artificial one, use a local bulky pickup service.
