A portion of I-135 in Wichita will be closed to drivers the next two weekends starting Saturday.
The closures will be in the same location and same time for both weekends, a Kansas Department of Transportation news release said.
The first closure will begin at 5 a.m. on Sep. 21 and will temporarily close southbound I-135 from the K-254 interchange to just past the K-96 interchange. Drivers on northbound I-135 will be have to exit onto eastbound K-96, KDOT said.
“These closures in Wichita are necessary to erect a girder. At 5 a.m. on Saturday, the ramp closures will commence, with completion expected late on Sunday, Sept. 22,” according to the release.
The second closure will be on Sep. 28 with the same parameters as the first closure. During the closures, drivers can take westbound K-96 to northbound I-135. Detour signs will be guide drivers to alternative routes.
