Monday UPDATE:

Wichita Police Department spokesperson Andrew Ford identified the man shot and killed Saturday night as Thomas Rhodes. He did not say if anyone has been arrested in the shooting.

Initial story:

A 35-year-old man was shot and killed at a gathering Saturday night in southwest Wichita.

Police responded at 9:51 p.m. to a shooting call in the 3300 block of S. Euclid. Officers found the man with a gunshot wound to his upper body. He died at the scene at 10:01 p.m., Wichita police spokesperson Andrew Ford said Sunday.

The man’s identity has not been released.

A gathering was taking place at a home on Euclid when an argument broke out between the homeowner and the victim, according to a police news release. The homeowner asked the victim to leave and he did.

The victim returned and an argument led to the shooting, Ford said.

When asked if anyone is in custody, Ford said “investigators are speaking with the individual involved.”

That person’s age, gender and city of origin was not released.

Police said a gun was retrieved from the scene.

An investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information about the case is encouraged to call Crime Stoppers at 316-267-2111.
