Four people were taken to the hospital after a sedan struck a light pole at the intersection of Pawnee and Hillside on Tuesday.

Officers responded around 3:20 p.m. to an accident call and found a vehicle had struck a pole on the corner of Hillside. Four people were inside the vehicle when the crash occurred, Wichita Police Sgt. Douglas Gredes said.

All four were taken to a hospital by Sedgwick County Emergency Medical Services with non-life threatening injuries, Gredes said.

The car was “going well beyond the posted sign [speed limit],” according to a preliminary investigation, Gredes said.

Traffic heading north on Hillside at the intersection is closed off while police work to tow away the car. Gredes said the intersection is expected to open back up in the next 30 minutes.
