Two men — one from Wichita — died in head-on collision just after midnight Tuesday in southeast Kansas.

Kansas Highway Patrol crash logs identified the victims as 51-year-old Scott Bryant of Wichita and 29-year-old Dustin Hale of Rogers, Arkansas.

The crash was reported at about 12:17 a.m. along U.S. Highway 400 about three miles west of Kansas Highway 47 in Wilson County. Hale was eastbound on U.S. 400 in a 2020 Chevrolet Express van when it crossed the center line and struck Bryant’s westbound 2022 Ford Escape head on, the report said.

The Express van came to a stop on the highway shoulder. The Escape spun counter-clockwise into a ditch and caught on fire. Both Hale and Bryant died at the scene from their injuries, according to the crash log.
