A Wichita water park has closed until “further notice” after it was vandalized.

Splash Aqua Water Park ICT, which opened in 2019 on a sandpit lake just south of Interstate 235 and Seneca Street, said in a Facebook post on Monday that the park had been vandalized a second time this month.

A GoFundMe set up to help rebuild the park describes the extent of the damage. The fundraiser suggests the vandalism was discovered on Sunday morning.

“The entire left side of our park was flat...the inflatables had been stabbed,” the GoFundMe said. “Most of them had been stabbed multiple times.”

The slashes measured 10-12 inches in length.

“there is no chance of patching them to finish out the season,” the business said.

The park also was vandalized on July 6. A video posted on the business’ Facebook page shows a walk-through of the damage.

A call to the business Monday afternoon was sent to a recorded message saying the park is closed because of vandalism.

“At this time we do not know when we will be opening,” the message said. “We will know more as the week progresses.”

Those looking for a refund can email Christie@splashICT.com, the message said.
