A Wichita man died following a boating incident in Oklahoma’s Grand Lake on Saturday evening.

That man later was identified as 47-year-old Daniel Siebert, according to a Grand River Dam Authority news release.

Witnesses at the lake reported seeing Siebert operating a 1979 Mastercraft boat in the back of Duck Creek “when he fell from the vessel,” the release said.

Witnesses also reported seeing Siebert, who was alone on the boat, apparently struck by the vessel after he entered the water.

After Siebert did not resurface, police on the scene were able to stop the boat. A search began, and Siebert’s body was recovered at around 7:30 a.m. on Sunday.

Investigators are working to piece together what led the incident.

Grand Lake is 46,500 acres and is nestled in the foothills of the Ozark mountain range of northeast Oklahoma. It is roughly 200 miles southeast of Wichita.
