Wichita police are investigating a crash that left an 18-year-old Wichita woman dead just after midnight on Sunday.

That woman was identified as Madison Dahl of Haysville, Kansas, police spokesperson Trevor Macy said in a news release.

The crash was reported around 12:30 a.m. in the 1200 block of S. Seneca. Officers arrived on scene and found a white Pontiac G6 passenger car that had struck a tree, Macy said.

Dahl and a 19-year-old man who was a passenger were found inside the car. Dahl was trapped and was extracted by the Wichita Fire Department, according to Macy.

She was taken to a nearby hospital where she died from her injuries. The 19-year-old passenger was taken to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries, Macy said.

Investigators said Dahl was heading north on Seneca from Harry and lost control shortly after crossing the railroad tracks and collided with a tree, the news release read.
