Man struck, killed by semi truck on south-central Kansas highway

One man has died after being struck by a semi truck overnight Thursday in Kingman County.

The man was identified as 63-year-old Daniel Guevara of Kansas City, Missouri, Kansas Highway Patrol crash logs show.

The incident was reported around 2:02 a.m. along U.S. 54 about four miles east of Kingman, the report said.

A semi being driven by an Amarillo, Texas man was heading west on U.S. 54. Guevara was in the roadway near the center line, the crash log said.

The semi driver was unable to avoid striking Guevara, who was pronounced dead at the scene, the report said.

It is unknown why Guevara was standing in the roadway.
