A man is dead after a collision involving a motorcycle and a vehicle Wednesday night in south Wichita, police captain Wendell Nicholson said.

The crash was reported around 7 p.m. in the 2700 block of south Hydraulic near the intersection of Pawnee and Hydraulic. The rider of the motorcycle, a man in his 50s, was southbound on Hydraulic and approaching the intersection of Hydraulic and Marion, according to Nicholson.

A silver-colored SUV that was on Marion failed to yield at a stop sign and struck the motorcyclist that was riding in the curb lane. The man was knocked off his bike and later died from his injuries, Nicholson said.

The driver in the SUV was not injured. The circumstances of the crash are still under investigation and police will remain on scene and have the intersection blocked for the next few hours, according to Nicholson.
