Wichita teen dies after his vehicle collides with semi truck on Kansas Turnpike

A teenage boy has died in an accident that happened shortly after 7 a.m. Tuesday morning on the Kansas Turnpike, Kansas Highway Patrol crash logs show.

Caden Barnes, 17, of Wichita, was northbound on I-35 near MacArthur in a 2006 Toyota PC when he “lost control” of the Toyota, went into oncoming traffic and collided with a semi truck, according to the crash logs.

He was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the semi truck, 65-year-old Wilmer Tribble of Bryan, Texas, was not injured, the report says.

Dispatch confirmed over the phone that the accident happened in a construction zone.
