Police: Medical condition suspected in fatal crash at Wichita State
A medical condition is suspected as the cause of a traffic crash in which a 60-year-old woman died Monday night, police said.
Audrey Coleman, 60, was driving west at about 9 p.m. Monday in the 3400 block of East 21st Street when she drifted from the curb lane to the inside lane, Lt. James Espinoza said. Another vehicle was in that lane and the driver honked at Coleman, who veered back into the curb lane.
Moments later, however, she turned left from the curb lane across about five lanes of traffic into a parking lot next to Cessna Stadium on the campus of Wichita State University, Espinoza said. The speed at which she was traveling prompted Coleman’s 2007 Jeep Liberty to overturn in the parking lot.
Coleman was pronounced dead at the scene, Espinoza said. Investigators are awaiting autopsy results to see whether a medical condition prompted the crash and caused her death.
