Human remains found inside burnt vehicle after Kansas vehicle crash, sheriff says
Kansas investigators are working to confirm the identity of the a driver who died in a fiery vehicle crash.
The Reno County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release that deputies were called at around 1 p.m. Friday to the 10000 block of South Avery Road, about 2 miles south of Plevna. The report was a possibly burned vehicle with a body inside.
“The initial investigation revealed human remains were located inside of the burnt vehicle and an apparent single vehicle accident had occurred with unknown circumstances,” sheriff’s Capt. Steve Lutz said in a statement.
The remains were taken to the Sedgwick County Forensic Science Center for an autopsy, and investigators are awaiting the results from the autopsy and DNA testing to confirm the driver’s identity.
