8 puppies dumped ‘like they were trash’ rescued in Wichita, humane society says
Eight puppies thrown away in a northeast Wichita dumpster are alive and getting better after being rescued.
“Last week, these poor puppies were put in a dumpster at 29th and Rock like they were trash,” the Kansas Humane Society said in a Facebook post. “They were cold, hungry and alone.”
Someone found the dogs and took them to the Wichita animal shelter before the humane society placed them into emergency foster care. Photos in the Facebook post include one that shows the eight dogs cuddling while sleeping.
“Our first priority was getting them warmed up, and putting some food in their little bellies,” the humane society said in the post. “After that we cleaned them up and gave them some medicine and a cozy spot to rest.”
The puppies are about 4 weeks old and continue to get healthier. They are not ready for adoption, the humane society said.
