Family of teen who died at Wichita school asks people considering suicide to seek help
The family of a teenager who died by suicide at a Wichita high school last week is urging other people considering suicide to seek help.
Vayden (Bucky) Easley died at Southeast High School on Friday.
“We want to use this time to honor Vayden, and to remind others who may be considering suicide, that you are not alone,” the family said in a statement. “You are important, and you are loved. Many resources are available. Please reach out to someone, talk to them, and ask for help.”
Vayden was diagnosed with major depressive disorder and struggled with other mental health issues, the family said. Vayden had been seeking professional support, had seen a psychiatrist and a therapist and had been prescribed medication.
“The family accepted Vayden for all she was, and would give anything to have her back,” the family’s statement said.
