Wichita student dies by suicide at Southeast High School, district says

A Wichita high school student died by suicide at school Friday, officials said.

The Southeast High School student’s death occurred at the school, a Wichita Public Schools spokesperson said.

“The student was found unresponsive, and attempts to revive the student were unsuccessful,” district spokeswoman Susan Arensman said in a statement. “No other students were involved.”

A Sedgwick County dispatch supervisor said emergency crews were called to the school at around 1:50 p.m. Wichita police are investigating the death but referred questions to the school district.

Arensman was not able to say where the student was found or who found the student.
