Man killed in weekend crash is 19-year-old Wichitan
Wichita police on Tuesday identified the 19-year-old killed in a weekend crash at 9th and McLean as Christian Bocanegra of Wichita.
Bocanegra died at a Wichita hospital after his Buick Lucerne veered off the street and smashed into a light pole at the intersection, which is adjacent to the Arkansas River. The crash involved only his car and happened at about 2:20 p.m. Saturday. Bocanegra was alone in the Buick.
Officer Charley Davidson said Tuesday that Bocanegra’s speed likely played a role in the crash.
