Crashes, construction work clog Kellogg in west Wichita
Kellogg has turned into a parking lot in both directions in west Wichita as Saturday afternoon arrived, and motorists are being advised to find alternate routes.
Multiple crashes on westbound Kellogg past the Central Business District are blamed for backing traffic all the way to downtown, a Sedgwick County emergency dispatch supervisor said. Eastbound traffic west of I-235 was at a virtual standstill as drivers attempted to negotiate the single lane under the interstate.
Kellogg is one way each direction under I-235 on Saturday as part of construction work at the interchange.
Motorists were either unaware of that work or forgot about it, given how they were driving on the highly congested freeway, law enforcement officers indicated via scanner chatter.
