The average price of gasoline in the Wichita area was $1.92 on Monday, down from $2.13 a week ago.

The trend is down locally and nationally, despite the attacks in Paris on Friday, according to Gasbuddy.com. Gas prices fell below $2 in the Wichita area in September and February of this year as well.

“Terrorism and other geopolitical events always have the potential to bring havoc to Wall Street but early signs suggest that financial market reactions are subdued,” said Gregg Laskoski, GasBuddy’s senior petroleum analyst. “That means Friday’s events are not likely to be what drives the direction of crude oil, and market fundamentals can be expected to push retail gasoline prices lower in the U.S.”
