Gas prices drop below $2 mark in Wichita
After an absence of seven months gas prices of less than $2 a gallon returned to Wichita on Saturday.
Stations on the east side of town first started changing their signs to $1.99 early Saturday morning.
Wichita last saw sub-$2 gas on Feb. 3.
The average price of a gallon of regular gas was still $2.09 at 9 a.m. Saturday, according to Gasbuddy.com. But those numbers usually lag behind the lowest prices in the area.
Gas prices were averaging $3.20 at this time a year ago in Wichita, and $3.42 nationally.
Prices often drop in the fall and winter months, with Wichita hitting a recent low of $1.69 in January 2015.
