Sedgwick County investigating 34 new cases of COVID-19 as positive test rate drops

Public health officials are investigating new cases of COVID-19 in the Wichita area as the local positive test percentage continues to drop.

The Sedgwick County Health Department reported 34 new cases of COVID-19 on Sunday, bringing the total for the coronavirus pandemic to 6,806. There were no new deaths, keeping the number at 50.

An additional 555 people have been tested, raising the total to 79,133.

The most recent positive test rate was 7.93% for Saturday, which was down from 10.33% on Tuesday — the last time it was above 10%. The 14-day rolling average is updated as more test results are reported.

All 34 of the new cases are still under investigation for the source of exposure to the virus.
