Andover, are you hungry? Look what restaurant you’re getting next.
Andover, or more specifically the Heritage in Andover, is on a roll — you might say literally and figuratively.
The still relatively new 110-acre development along East Kellogg has landed another restaurant.
This time, it’s Culver’s, the national chain that’s known for its butter burgers. It also makes fresh frozen custard about every hour throughout the day and has an extensive menu of other dishes.
Franchisee Ryan Vaughn called the Heritage “a great opportunity.”
“I’ve heard a lot of great things about that place. . . . It’s a beautiful as well.”
He also owns the Culver’s in Derby.
Fellow franchisee Nick Campe owns the Culver’s restaurants on North Maize Road and the new one that opened this week on North Rock Road.
Vaughn said he was attracted to Andover in part because it seems a lot like Derby, where he’s been successful since opening in December.
“It’s been very welcoming, and it just feels like home,” said the Lake of the Ozarks native.
Vaughn said he “started as a grill guy” for Culver’s in college, never imagining he’d one day become a franchisee.
The Andover Culver’s will open in December, and Vaughn said he envisions eventually adding a couple more of the restaurants to the greater Wichita area.
“I think that’d be plenty for me.”
Like the Derby Culver’s, the Andover one will have a double drive-through.
It’s going to be by the Kellogg and Yorktown Parkway intersection and be across Yorktown from where QuikTrip eventually is going to open.
“It’s going to be very visible,” Heritage developer Jerry Jones said of Culver’s.
“It’s going to occupy an important location in the development.”
Jones said Yorktown “was designed to be the main feeder to the Heritage.”
Culver’s still will be separate from what Jones called “the more pedestrian-oriented areas around Heritage Square.”
Livingston’s Cafe was the first commercial tenant to open at Heritage Square in October 2024, and Social Tap Drinkery opened late last year.
Culver’s makes restaurant No. 3.
“Culver’s is a great brand, and we’re excited,” Jones said. “Their service is amazing, their food is really good, and they’re nice people, and we’ve enjoyed working with them.”
So what other food does Andover have to look forward to?
“At this point now, we’re being very strategic about what types of restaurants we bring in because we want them to complement each other and not compete with each other,” Jones said.
His wish list includes a dessert business with ice cream and baked goods.
Jones also would like to have a cocktail bar with some tapas or other light fare.
He’d also like some upscale restaurants, “which we’ve heard over the years that there’s a lot of demand for.”
Jones said there are some Heritage sites that would be ideal for that.
“We’re working on it, and we’re going to be picky.”
