A new business is opening in the former Pier 1 space at Bradley Fair, and it’s a bit of a surprise considering what other kinds of businesses are already at the development at 21st and Rock Road.

Emler Swim School will open there next year to offer swimming lessons for babies and preschool children.

The award-winning business has more than 36 schools in six states.

“Emler Swim School has been a trusted name in swim education for nearly 50 years, bringing parents peace of mind regarding their child’s water safety and swimming technique,” said Bradley Fair general manager Jessica Branning in a statement.

“We are excited to have them join Bradley Fair, adding more variety and convenience for families.”

Since Massachusetts-based WS Development became a co-owner of Bradley Fair in 2019, the center has increasingly added more service-related businesses, instead of strictly restaurants and shops, that give customers the ability to take care of a lot of needs in one trip to the lifestyle center.

For instance, a family might take children to the swim school, stay for a meal and then take care of some grocery shopping before heading home.

The swim school, which started in 1975, is designed to create a fun, safe space for children to learn to swim. It’s about helping kids have fun while learning to be safe in the water.

“We are excited to be a part of the community and look forward to executing on our core mission which is the eradication of childhood drowning,” said Emler CEO Ashley Sheetz in a news release.

She called Wichita “a dynamic city filled with young, active families”

Children ages two months and older can participate in lessons.

Look for more information next year when the school opens.
