A new restaurant is coming to Plazzio at 13th and Greenwich, but unlike most of the other restaurants at the development, this one isn’t for dine-in eating.

Smalls Sliders will be in retrofitted shipping containers and serve a limited menu of burgers, fries and shakes.

“It’s a very kind of streamlined, intentionally limited menu,” said franchisee Colton Sorlie.

He said it’s about delivering a high-quality product quickly.

Sorlie and his parents, Jim and Teresa, and brother, Matthew, have Slidin’ Thru ICT LLC, which has the Smalls Sliders franchise rights for Wichita, Salina and Manhattan.

The Louisiana franchise has almost 20 sites across the south and is growing quickly.

There’s no indoor dining, but there are about 30 patio seats and walk-up windows in addition to a drive through.

“It’s a modular build,” Colton Sorlie said. “It’s made in a warehouse, and then it’s trucked in.”

He said his family’s goal is to have Smalls Sliders open in the first quarter of 2025.

He said there are ongoing discussions about a west-side space, but nothing is finalized yet.

The family has an agreement for five Smalls Sliders in the greater Wichita area.

“We hope that there’s appetite for more,” Sorlie said.

He was born and raised in Wichita and graduated from Wake Forest University in North Carolina in 2021.

Sorlie spent a couple of years in Houston doing real estate development and investing, but he said he wanted to start something new.

“I’ve always kind of been fascinated by the franchise industry.”

Also, he said his mother always wanted to have a small family business.

Sorlie said it’s good to be back in Wichita and nice to combine his career with his family.

“It’s been amazing,” he said. “We have such great chemistry and work together really well.”

Look for more information early next year when the family has a celebration to load in the first Smalls Sliders.
