If things really do come in threes, you’d think Jesse Sauer would be worried, but he’s not.

On Friday, a car crashed into a vacant storefront next to Sauer’s Horton’s Carpets near 29th and Maize Road.

The car then traveled through a wall and into the Horton’s showroom.

This follows a 2019 electrical fire at a warehouse behind the Horton’s Carpets at 13th and Greenwich that closed that store for months.

That was a much larger incident, though, which Sauer referred to as “a major ordeal.”

He called the car crash much more minor, and he said he’s thankful for no injuries, minus some that a few carpet displays sustained.

Sauer said NewMarket Square management got the wall boarded up quickly, and he expects to be closed only briefly.

In the meantime, Sauer said west-side customers can go to his third store, near Maple and Ridge Road.

Sauer said he’s not concerned about the possible fate of that store.

“No, not at all.”

Jesse Sauer said the car crash at his Horton’s Carpet was fairly minor, and he said he’s thankful for no injuries, minus some ones that a few carpet displays sustained.
