Genesis Health Clubs is back to continuing its march across the country opening new clubs after pausing briefly to close the one at Brittany Center in Wichita this month.

Thursday, it acquired its 66th club, this time in state No. 9: Indiana.

Genesis purchased the Evansville-based Tri-State Athletic Club.

“We knew we couldn’t just sell to anyone,” said former Tri-State owner Thomas Myers in a statement. “We know the club is in good hands with Genesis.”

The club has been in Evansville for more than half a century. Genesis owner Rodney Steven II said he plans to make investments to ensure it remains a destination for years to come.

In addition to Indiana, Genesis has clubs in Kansas, Kentucky, Colorado, Missouri, Oklahoma, Nebraska, Iowa and Florida.
