New businesses coming to former Sente space downtown and Pinspiration space out east
Moving can be a tiresome drag whenever you have to do it, but several times in one year?
Exhausting is probably only one way to describe it. Derek Davenport may have some other words as well, especially after already moving a few times in recent years.
First, Davenport moved his Urban Routine Wellness facial bar from his home to the former FNL Denim space downtown at Eaton Place in 2018, and then he expanded there in 2019.
Following what he calls a lot of building issues under previous Eaton Place owners, Davenport had to temporarily move his business, partly to Derby and partly to a downtown salon earlier this year.
Now, he’s getting ready to move again in a couple of weeks into permanent space where the Sente coffee and game shop used to be at the northwest corner of Douglas and Market.
That happens to coincide with plans he already had for opening a new east-side Urban Routine Wellness, which is happening in a week where Pinspiration used to be — at the Shops at Tallgrass near the northeast corner of 21st and Rock Road.
This location will have all of the med spa services his downtown shop offers except for hair services.
In addition, the new site will offer boot camp classes.
“That one’s going to be a different model,” Davenport said. “We’re actually going full swing into wellness.”
He’s offering what he called boutique boot camp with classes in the mornings and evenings. There also will be what he called a higher-end smoothie bar.
“We wanted to reach just a bigger market,” Davenport said. “We have grown big time.”
Craig Simon of Landmark Commercial Real Estate handled both deals. Stephanie Wise of Street Commercial represented the Tallgrass landlord.
Davenport said his businesses combine modern aesthetics with ancient healing practices.
“We take a different approach.”
He said it’s about making people better.
“Aside from looking good on the outside, we want them to be feeling their best on the inside.”
That’s even though that’s not quite how he’s feeling these days with so much moving.
“I’m tired of it.”
