Nordstrom Rack confirms its Bradley Fair opening and shares a few more details
Earlier this month, Bradley Fair confirmed that after years of speculation, Nordstrom Rack will be coming to the center at 21st and Rock Road.
At the time, the Seattle-based discount retailer didn’t have any comment, but now it does.
“We’re excited to open our first Rack location in the Wichita market,” senior vice president Carl Jenkins said in a news release.
“We invite our new customers to visit us often in our convenient new location and look forward to serving the Wichita community alongside a vibrant collection of nearby businesses.”
For shoppers, he said, it’s all about “the brands they love at great prices.”
That includes an extensive list of popular brands.
“Nordstrom Rack has the benefit of having a relationship with Nordstrom full-line stores and can offer customers a mix of merchandise from Nordstrom stores, or from many of the top brands that are carried in Nordstrom,” said a statement about the company. “Because of this relationship, Nordstrom Rack is able to access merchandise from these brands before other off-price retailers at a savings of up to 70 percent off.”
There will be several new deliveries to the store each week, so the merchandise will continue to change.
The store is similar to a Saks Off 5th, T.J. Maxx or Marshalls.
Nordstrom first began in 1901 as a shoe store.
The first Nordstrom Rack started in 1973 as a clearance center below the Nordstrom in downtown Seattle. A decade later, the first stand-alone Nordstrom Rack opened in Oregon. Others followed as the chain expanded nationally.
The stores carry clothing, shoes, accessories, beauty supplies and home decor.
The Wichita Nordstrom Rack will open in 28,000 square feet on the south end of the center, which is much of the space where Bed Bath & Beyond used to be.
In its July 26 release, the company said it “is committed to giving back to the diverse communities where it operates” and has given more than $1.5 million to support Big Brothers Big Sisters of America, with all of the money going to recruit and train mentors and support their mentorships with children.
