A new convenience store will replace a crumbling restaurant on West Street

Another new Casey’s General Store is coming to the Wichita area, this time at the southwest corner of Taft and West streets.

No one with the Iowa-based company returned calls for comment, but its landscape plans have been approved by the planning department.

Casey’s stores generally have more than a dozen fueling stations outside and offer pizza, sub sandwiches, large coffee bars and fountain drink areas inside.

The new store will be built where the former Crazy Crab Seafood restaurant is crumbling now.

The building was perhaps best known as a Chi-Chi’s Mexican restaurant for a couple of decades. More recently, it has housed one Chinese buffet after another.

Look for more information on Casey’s when the company is ready to announce the store.
