Second Wichita Torchy’s Tacos is planned, this time on the west side
Wichita’s second Torchy’s Tacos is going to open at NewMarket North on the west side. However, much like when Have You Heard? reported the first Wichita Torchy’s would open at 21st and Rock Road, the company isn’t confirming it.
The Austin-based Torchy’s didn’t return calls for comment on the new site.
The company has started the permitting process, though, for 2901 N. Maize Road. That’s just north of the center where HomeGrown is. There’s ground work underway.
Torchy’s is known for, of course, its tacos. That includes breakfast tacos.
There is always an inventive taco of the month, which this month is called the Vagabond.
“With grilled fajita beef on a bed of bacon topped with grilled onions, chimichurri sauce, feta cheese & fresh pico de gallo served on a flour tortilla, our May Taco of the Month is something to wanderlust after,” the Torchy’s site says.
There also are bowl options and side dishes, such as street corn and Mexican rice.
In addition to beer and wine, Torchy’s has a variety of margaritas and specialty cocktails.
According to the company’s website, Torchy’s had its start in a food trailer and then opened restaurants and started expanding outside of Austin.
Also according to the site, there are just over 80 Torchy’s restaurants either open or in the works. The bulk of the restaurants are in Texas, and the rest are in Arkansas, Oklahoma and Colorado.
No Kansas locations are listed on the site, and it’s unclear exactly when the east-side Torchy’s is opening.
Look for more information on both Wichita Torchy’s restaurants as it becomes available.
